The first rapid COVID-testing festival will happen this summer.

The first festival with rapid COVID-19 testing, Unum, has announced its headliners for June 3th till 7th this summer in Albania. While there is still much uncertainty about the real dangers of a "COVID-testing festival", Albania is the first country in the world to approve testing to ensure social and cultural events can continue.

While bigger festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury have postponed their festivals. Unum and Albania are seeing an opportunity in Primavera Sound, whom recently hailed a successful rapid COVID-testing event with more than 1,000 people and no social distancing, which no infections were recorded in the wake of. However, experts are still questioning the effectiveness of these rapid antigen testing on asymptotic people.

Anyhow, the festival will almost certainly take place in the coastal town of Shengjin on the Albanian Riviera this summer. The organisers said:

"This event will 100% take place in a responsible way and COVID secure fashion as it has full government approval, regardless of restrictions in other countries. So even if it has to become an event for just locals or those able to travel, then this is what will happen.
“This is thanks to Swallow Events, our partners in this, providing their rapid testing service for the festival to ensure everyone who enters is tested and virus-free beforehand. We are taking all measures required to ensure safety measures are followed at all times and there will be zero tolerance on this matter”.

Unum Festival's setting serves up sandy beaches and a backing of the Albanian Alps. Artists set to place include Shaun Reeves, Cesar Merveille, Leon, Nikola Vemic, And.Re, Cap, Alex Kostic, Rayo, Nikifor, Nemax, Fogg, George Adi, Hajdar Berisha, Hiroko Yamamura, Nikola Vemic, Dona K, Franco Cinelli, with more to be announced. There will also be body painting, yoga, a game zone, tattoo area, chill out zone, an ARTizan market with craft products, and more.

The first release is priced at €139 for international visitors. All tickets purchased will be protected by Festicket, so if patrons are unable to make it they will be refunded.

Tickets are on sale here and accommodation can also be booked through the festival right here.
