Artists we lost due to COVID-19

Every day we read about new rules trying to limit the effects of the corona virus, about possible new vaccines or people being too stupid to wear a mask. Something we might forget, is that a great number of people have died from the virus. This group also contains a number of amazing artists, who all died way too soon.

DJ Mike Huckaby

Mike Huckaby was an influential DJ and producer in the Detroit techno and house scene. He had a mild stroke in the beginning of the year, but was improving. He started showing symptoms of Covid-19 and had to be put on a ventilator. He tested positive for Covid-19 shortly before his death on April 24, he was 54.

Adam Schlesinger

Adam Schlesinger was a member of The Fountains of Wayne, who are known for their hit song “Stacy's Mom”. He died on April the 1st from complications of COVID-19 at the age of 52. Schlesinger received numerous Grammy nominations with his band. He also received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for the music he wrote for movies like That Thing You Do!, Tony nominations for the musical Cry-Baby and he won an Emmy for the music he did for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Fred the Godson

Fred the Godson was only 35 when he died on the 23th of April. He was a member of the 2011 XXL Freshman class, along with Kendrick Lamar and Meek Mill and was know for his excellent wordplay and smooth delivery.

DJ Black N Mild

The New Orleans DJ and radio personality, who's real name is Oliver Stokes Jr., is know for bringing New Orleans bounce music to the radio with his radio show Rhythm and Bounce. He died on March 19, he was only 44.
