The highlights of the 2020 Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards are one of the biggest and most important music award shows of the year. This year it was moved from April to October due to COVID-19 and was hosted by singer Kelly Clarkson. With nine awards Post Malone was the biggest winner, followed by Khalid with five awards.

Post Malone


Post Malone was the biggest winner of the year, winning nine different awards. Including artist of the year, top rap album for Hollywood's Bleeding, top rap song for Rockstar, top streaming artists, top rap artists (even though he always says he isn't a rapper), Top hot 100 artists and few other awards.


Khalid


Khalid got the second most awards this year, winning top R&B artists, top R&B album with Free Spirit, top male R&B artists, top R&B song with Talk and the award for best R&B tour.



Kayne West


Kayne won both top gospel album and top Christian album for Jesus is King. Kayne is the first artist to have won awards in both categories. He also won all of the three awards in the gospel field, top artists, top album and top song with Follow God.


Killer Mike


Killer Mike accepted the first-ever Billboard Change Maker Award for his work as a musician and social-justice activist. In his acceptance speech he urged the youth that looked up to him to use their talents to effect change and dedicated his award to his heroes Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.


Lizzo


Lizzo won the award for top song sales artist this year. When receiving her awards she went on stage wearing a black dress with the words vote printed all over. In her acceptance speech, she talked about voter suppression and the importance to vote during this years election. You can check out the full speech down here:
